Gone But Not Forgotton
Willis Eugene Dykes
Willis Eugene Dykes was born October 29, 1919 in Kentwood, Louisiana to Murphy J. and Kate Louis Dykes. The family moved to Vicksburg in 1927.He married Annie Pearl Bishop on April 14, 1940. Their children were Wills Gerald "Jerry", Tommy and Melvin. Annie Pearl's parents were James Lafeyette and Lula Permelia Bishop.

In 1941, he was working for Anderson Tully Co as a flooring checker and living on Highway 61 North.
He served in the US Navy during WWII. He returned to Anderson-Tully and continued to work there for 43 years.
Willis died July 23, 1987 in Vicksburg. He is buried in Green Acres Memorial Park in Vicksburg, MS.
